Let's make a quilt!
Wahoo! It’s time to start assembling blocks and actually start making the quilt! Are you ready?!
Sometimes I feel like the planning stages are the most work, but it’s always worth it in the end. I am loving everyone’s fabric choices and color combos! I hope you’re having fun and I can’t wait to see your beautiful quilts come together!
I will be posting two to three blocks a week that we’ll assemble, including the flying geese, from now until the end of February. That will give plenty of time for life to happen as we make our quilts – which it always does, and hopefully everyone will be right on schedule when we assemble the quilts in March!
A few tips:
If you don’t want to wait, and want to work ahead, that’s awesome and I hope you’ll share your progress with us! I’m sure it’ll help motivate us to all stay on track. 😉
A few things to note:
- It’s been a while that I’ve made a quilt that wasn’t paper pieced, so maybe it’s just me, but I’ve found that I need to sew with a scant 1/4 inch seam to get my blocks the right size. The more I sew the better they are, so I’m sure it’s me – ya’ll are pros at this. 😉
- I do have a little tip to help with Block B, so if you are struggling with that last step, feel free to set those aside, or make them until that last step, and I’ll be sharing that tip this coming Wednesday.
- The rest of the blocks are all pretty self explanatory in the pattern, so I won’t have too much extra details to share, if any.
- Of course, if you have any questions, let me know! And I’ll make sure to answer those along the way.
Bleck A
Here is my fabric all cut out for Block A
And here is the finished block! Make 4.
Quilt progress
Here’s my overall quilt progress with my blocks up on my design wall. I will include other fabrics that aren’t a part of any other block, building out from the center, as we get to them. (I didn’t line it up very straight. haha.)
It’s really cloudy right now, and my fabrics around Block A blend right in to my design wall, so I’ll have to figure something else out for better pictures…
Homework
The homework for today is pretty straight forward:
Make your Block A blocks.
